Here's the thing about ice cream, it's creamy, cold and delicious. And even though I live in a winter tundra land (I call it the siberia of the States) I can't help but make a new batch each week. What was it this week? My very own Chunky Monkey..... for those that don't speak Ben and Jerry's, it's banana ice cream with chocolate and walnuts.
Here's my question though..... Is there anyone out there besides me that loves banana ice cream? I've polled the people I know and it appears that I'm the only one..... I choose to believe that I'm the sane one and they're all nuts.
Here's the great thing about fruit ice creams, they're all made the same.
Equipment:
Blender
Ice Cream Maker
Ingredients:
2 frozen Bananas
1 cup Whole Milk
2 cups Heavy Cream
3/4 cup Sugar
pinch Salt
1 Tbs. Vanilla
Chocolate Chips
Walnuts
Directions:
Whisk the milk, salt and sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the milk and the vanilla. Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Partially thaw the bananas and liquify them in a blender. Stir them into the milk mixture and pour in the ice cream maker. 5 minutes before the ice cream is done put in a handful or two of chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
Don't have an ice cream maker? It's okay. Just put frozen bananas into a blender... they cream like ice cream and taste almost just like it!
